CBSE’s Group Mathematical Olympiad to be held on December 7
With an aim to spot budding mathematicians, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct a Group Mathematical Olympiad at various centers across the country on 7th December, 2014.
Students studying in classes 9 to 11 are eligible to take part in the three-hour competition. The question paper for all the students will be the same. Each school will have to select and send only five students who stand the best chance of competing against their peers across the country. A qualifying exam has to be conducted in the school as a screening test to select the candidates.
Students selected by the school will have to pay Rs 100 as entry fee for the examination. It can be drawn in the form of a demand draft. The last date for submitting applications is 5th November, 2014. The Olympiad will be held in one or two venues in each state for the convenience of students.
The CBSE has been conducting the Mathematical Olympiad at the regional, state and international levels to identify, encourage, promote and nurture the talent of students who perform exceptionally well in mathematics. After being accorded the status of an independent group by the National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM) in 1997, the CBSE has been conducting the Group Mathematics Olympiad for students in affiliated schools.
The examination will be of three hours duration. The list of centers for the examination has been uploaded on the CBSE website’s academic page. The results will be made available at www.cbseacademic.in
